The official inauguration of the new Titan Themis microscope of the electron microscopy platform of the Chevreul Institute took place on November 09, 2017. It was attended by Mr. Gilles Pargneaux, deputy member of the European Parliament, Mrs. Nathalie Lebas, counselor of Hauts-de-France region, Mr. Luc Johann, the rector of the Hauts-de-France academic region, Mr. Stéphane Leleu, the regional delegate for research and technology, Mr. Jacques Maddaluno, the director of the Chemistry Institute of CNRS, Mrs. Françoise Paillous, the CNRS regional delegate, and Mr. Lionel Montagne the research vice-president of Lille 1 University.

The ceremony was followed by a scientific afternoon dedicated to transmission electron microscopy. Two external speakers opened the session: Odile Stephan from the Solid State Physics Laboratory at Orsay, presented the latest advances in electron and photon spectroscopy at the nanoscale. Paul Midgley from the Material Science and Metallurgy Laboratory at Cambridge University, presented the many facets of multidimensional microscopy and the related data analysis. Recent results obtained in various themes from the Chevreul Institute and the University using high resolution electron microscopy were then presented. The full program for the day is available below.
